Sabato 15 marzo si disputerà la quinta edizione dell’Abu Dhabi International Triathlon che ha fatto registrare il sold out, con 2.400 triatleti provenienti da 68 nazioni.

L’evento propone tre diverse gare: Sprint, ovvero 750 metri di nuoto, 50K di bici e 5K di corsa; Short, 1.5-100-10K; e Long, 3-200-20K.

Alla gara parteciperanno anche quest’anno diversi tra i migliori interpreti della multidisciplina mondiale: a cominciare dal campione del mondo Ironman, il belga Frederik Van Lierde, e dalla campionessa del Mondo di triathlon lungo ITU, l’australiana Melissa Hauschildt (Rollison); insieme alle due stelle britanniche del triathlon olimpico, i fratelli Alistair e Jonathan Brownlee.

Ma ci saranno tra gli altri anche Eneko Llanos, Tyler Butterfield, Michelle Vesterby, Yvonne van Vlerken e Annabel Luxford a lottare per le vittorie finali.

Da segnalare inoltre anche la presenza della statunitense Katherine Kelly Lang, famosa in tutto il mondo per essere l’interprete del personaggio Brooke Logan nella soap opera Beautiful.

Diversi anche gli azzurri in gara, tra cui segnaliamo anche la presenza del triatleta sardo Valerio Curridori, fresco vincitore dell’Oscar del Triathlon tra gli Age Group: “Zio Valerio” ritorna ad Abu Dhabi a gareggiare nel Long, dopo l’exploit del 2013, quando conquistò la vittoria nella sua categoria (60-64).

The Abu Dhabi International Triathlon course has been designed to showcase the beauty of the UAE capital city to the world and help push the emirate’s credentials as a leading alternative winter training base for athletes of all calibres.
Starting with a sunrise swim in the Arabian Gulf’s shimmering turquoise waters off Abu Dhabi’s blue flagged public beach, the course then weaves through the closed roads along the Abu Dhabi Corniche beach, up to the spectacular Yas Island and around the Yas Marina Circuit – home to the annual Formula 1™ Eithad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix – before returning to the heart of the capital.
