Con una frase su Facebook, Dave Nicholas, patron della serie XTERRA, ha annunciato la nuova località che nel 2013 ospiterà l’XTERRA Italy Champhioship: il Lago di Scanno, in Abruzzo.

“Ciao XTERRA Famiglia… soon we announce 2013 XTERRA Abruzzo in Lago di Scanno, 20-21 luglio.”

XTERRA Italy si è sempre disputata in Sardegna, a Villacidro prima, per poi trasferirsi ad Orosei e diventare uno degli eventi della serie più apprezzati e partecipati al mondo.

L’altra novità importante per il mondo della triplice su ruote grasse è che ad Orosei si continuerà a vivere il triathlon off-road, grazie all’accordo raggiunto tra Sandro Salerno, di Island Group, e Renato Bertrandi, presidente dell’ETU (European Triathlon Union).

The XTERRA World Tour gives athletes around the world a chance to race in some of the most diverse, spectacular, and challenging natural environments on the planet – from tropical jungles to snow-covered alps.  Pro athletes compete for more than US $458,000 in pro prize monies, while amateurs race for national titles and coveted slots to the World Championship.
