A Xonrupt, Gerardmer, si è corso domenica 8 luglio un umido, duro e lungo XTERRA France che ha salutato i successi, per la prima volta nel circuito, di Asa Shaw ed Helena Erbenova.

L’inglese Shaw, che vive in Francia, è uscito terzo dall’acqua, dietro suo fratello Karl e l’aussie Ben Allen (al traguardo solo 8°), quindi ha fatto segnare il miglior tempo in mtb e il secondo a piedi.

Al secondo posto, con un gap di 3′, è arrivato Alexander Haas, campione del mondo Age Group l’anno scorso a Maui; a meno di 30″ da Haas, è giunto il francese Nicolas Lebrun, capace del miglior split di giornata nella frazione podistica, quindi a seguire Cedric Lassond e Llewellyn Holmes.

La rottura della catena ha impedito a Olivier Marceau, campione in carica del circuito europeo, di finire la gara, mentre il francese del Triathlon Cremona Stradivari Francois Carloni ha terminato al sesto posto.

In campo femminile, dopo un 2011 in cui si è piazzata al 5° posto dell’XTERRA European Tour e al terzo nell’XTERRA World Championship di Maui, la ceca Helena Erbanova, olimpica di sci di fondo, ha centrato la sua prima vittoria nel circuito, dopo il secondo posto dell’XTERRA Italy. Sei gare disputate e sei Top 5 centrate!

La rossocrociata Renata Bucher, 4 volte vincitrice dell’XTERRA European Tour Champ, si è dovuta accontentare del secondo posto, terza la vincitrice dell’XTERRA Italy Jacqui Slack seguita dall’austriaca Carina Wasle e dalla sudafricana Carla Van Huyssteen.

Al traguardo sono arrivati anche 4 italiani, il più veloce è stato il valdostano Luca Alladio.
