Hammering at the front from start to finish—that’s the style of racing that Australia’s Josh Amberger really loves. At IRONMAN 70.3 Jonkoping, the 28-year-old clearly was the best swimmer. It was clear for Amberger’s compatriots that they wouldn’t see the leader anymore throughout the day. Although the chain fell off during his bike ride and Amberger lost a bit of time under the blue Swedish sky, there was no one next on his shoulder when he started the run. Still in the lead, Amberger nailed a run of an impressing consistency to take the win.

A steady run pace was the key to success in the women’s race, too. Austria’s Lisa Huetthaler topped Jodie Cunnama’s 2016 winning time by more than 2 minutes to mark a new course record. Different from her race to victory at the IRONMAN 70.3 Italy a few weeks ago, Huetthaler had no issues to maintain her pace on the second part of the run while Camilla Pedersen and Kimberley Morrison battled it out for third place.
